Description
Methyl Red is an azo dye that is a pH indicator that turns color in the presence of acid solutions (red in pH <4.4, yellow in pH >6.2, orange in between). It is particularly used in the MR Test for identifying enteric bacteria that produce stable acids during glucose metabolism (fermentation).
- Prepared by mixing 50g methyl red in a mixture of 1.86mL of 0.1M sodium hydroxide and 50mL ethanol, and diluted to 100mL with water
- Manufactured in an ISO 9001-compliant facility according to Eu. Ph. Chapter 4 (4.1.1) guidelines
- Provided with a certificate of analysis and a label that shows the lot and expiration date
